Thought I should start this new page talking a little about me. I am Anne, I was born and raised in Brazil, I speak two languages, Portuguese being my native language and English, my second; I am learning Italian and German, and I’m crazy about Friends, Harry Potter, and rainy days.

In 2018, I started a project on Instagram to talk about Brazil to foreigners (in English!), to tell them about what really happens in the ‘everyday life’, because I was tired of the things said by celebrities like José Padilha and Gisele Bünchen being considered the absolute truth (we are not destroying Amazon rainforest).

Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world, of course we will have different points of views. Our police are not as corrupt as the movie Tropa de Elite shows, we don’t have only favelas in our cities, and we are not as miserable and unprovided of opportunities in life as Brazilian movies insist on saying.

And by the way, Amazon is very far away from São Paulo or Rio, we have other big cities besides these last two, the Brazilian women are not prostitutes and we do not speak Spanish as our native language.

I will not be using a translator to check on my grammar (although as an English teacher I  should probably be doing it).
